Who We Are

NVDA (Network for Voluntary Development in Asia) is a network of international voluntary service (IVS) NGOs in Asia & Oceania. NVDA was founded in 1997 and now has 25 member NGOs in 21 countries/area. We organized 5,111 IVS projects and exchanged 30,266 vols. in 2023 across 90 countries.

Our History

NVDA (Network for Voluntary Development in Asia) was founded in 1997 through the initiative of KAIZAWA Shinichiro, President of NICE Japan (Never-ending International workCamps Exchange), in collaboration with the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS). Eleven international voluntary service NGOs, primary from the Asia-Pacific region, created a network focused on promoting international voluntary service and fostering collaboration across borders.

Our vision is to build a peaceful, fair, and sustainable Asia and world by bringing people together through international voluntary service and fostering strong, cross-border collaboration.

Our Mission

We empower communities and support NGOs by tackling critical issues such as environmentall sustainability, social welfare, education, and poverty. Through our diverse volunteer programs, we strengthen global understanding, foster lasting friendships, and promote solidarity, all aimed at creating a more connected and compassionate world.

Our Members

NVDA is formed from independent national or international NGOs/NPOs from Asia and Oceania involved in voluntary services. NVDA started in 1997 with 11 NGOs, as of the end of 2025, we have 25 member NGOs from 21 countries/ area that includes 23 full members and 2 associate members.

In 2023, NVDA cooperated with IVS networks globally facilitate over 5,111 projects in 90 countries, engaging 30,266 volunteers in a wide range of activities, from environmental conservation to educational outreach. These projects have collectively contributed to the advancement of key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
