Main aims

The Asian Online Summit of International Voluntary Service Vol.01 is organized in order to create a more peaceful, fair and sustainable Asia and the world (See details in Background for each aim):

  1. Support the communities and people who are suffered by the COVID-19
  2. Overcome the crisis of IVS NGOs by developing new types of the projects
  3. Promote wider participation and multi stakeholder collaboration

Background for each aim

A. Support the communities and people who are suffered by the COVID-19

International Voluntary Service (IVS) started in 1920 and created various types of huge impacts to create a peaceful, fair and sustainable world together with millions of glocal people.

In 2019, 1,473 IVS projects were organized by 30 member NGOs of NVDA in 22 countries/ areas of Asia-Pacific with the local hosts, 10,716 volunteers and a million of local people.

However, the COVID-19 has brought 69% decrease of the projects and 82% decrease volunteers in 2020 that is making the crisis of the local communities (e.g., Children’s home, Mangrove forests, Slum areas, Organic farms).

In this Summit, we would like to share visions and know-how of the various innovative and alternative practices to support local hosts in new ways such as National Voluntary projects, Online International workcamps & Donation projects.

B. Overcome the crisis of IVS NGOs by developing new types of the projects

As you can see the above figurers, IVS NGOs in Asia are serious damaged by the COVID-19. So, the above mentioned new types of projects, as well as the below mentioned further participation and collaboration, would greatly help their survival and revival.

C. Promote wider participation and multi stakeholder collaboration

There have been so many people and organizations to join/ cooperate with IVS (International Voluntary Service) projects in the history of 101 years, but potentially, there could be much more! Thus, many of those who have IVS experiences wish to keep being involved in the movement and be connected with other experienced volunteers, but the opportunities are not sufficient enough. This online summit will provide the great, valuable opportunities for such people and organizations to be easily and freely connected at their home/ office! So, if you have either experience or interest in joining IVS movement in Asia, why not join us now!?

The Summit’s program

  • 6 Members sessions: Focus on the practical, new projects to overcome the crisis of International Voluntary Service (IVS) NGOs and the local partners.
